AnteNatal Forte is a unique low dose multi-vitamin and mineral complex designed for use throughout pregnancy and lactation. There is an increased need for certain vitamins, such as folic acid, vitamins B6, D and E during pregnancy. These nutrients are vital to the growth and development of the foetus. High doses of vitamin A can be harmful to the developing baby, therefore AnteNatal Forte contains beta-carotene, a water-soluble precursor to vitamin A that is readily excreted by the body if it isn’t utilised.
Mineral requirements also increase during pregnancy. Iron is particularly important towards the end of pregnancy. The iron in AnteNatal Forte is iron citrate, a form that is readily absorbed and doesn’t cause constipation, a common side effect of inorganic supplemental forms of iron.
Zinc plays a crucial role in foetal brain development and immune system function. During the first stage of pregnancy there is increased demand for calcium. This is stored in the maternal skeleton to prepare for higher calcium demands during the third trimester when there is a rapid growth spurt.
Bilberry extract is included in this unique formulation. The flavonoid content of bilberry acts as an antioxidant helping to maintain a healthy immune system, aiding circulation and maintaining the integrity of capillaries and connective tissue.
